Call for Civility: 2019 Best Multimedia Storytelling – 2nd Place
Honored by the Michigan Associated Press Media Editors for a video I wrote and produced posted to WWTV's Facebook page addressing hateful comments on social media, and calling for civility.
2019 Best Use of New Media (single project) - Merit
I was honored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters with the 2019 Best Use of New Media (single project) merit award for my digital Smokey Bear 75th birthday celebration.
In honor of Smokey's milestone, the WWTV web team spent August 9 celebrating 75 years of wildlife prevention on our social media pages. Throughout the day, I shared Smokey Bear fun facts, trivia and history, including promotional campaign posters throughout the years on our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Instagram Stories and Snapchat.
I included articles with details on all of the Smokey Bear birthday celebrations happening in our viewing area, a photo of our in-house Smokey Bear bobble head, and videos from some of the public celebrations happening across the state.
Our team even got Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel to wish him a happy birthday on camera and shared their video message across our social media platforms.
2018 Best Use of New Media - “2018 Election Coverage”
I received the 2018 Best Use of New Media award by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for creating our company’s online election hub and our digital news coverage. On the digital election hub, viewers could learn about candidates running for election in our viewing area. Candidate bio pages included information on 2018 candidates’ background, endorsements they received and an overview of where they stood on important issues, as well as links to each candidates’ campaign website and social media pages. All candidate bios were written and researched by me. I also included a section for viewers to look up their own ballots, along with information on local school ballot proposals.
2017 Best Use of New Media - “Blue & You: Live With The Law”
I was honored with the 2017 Best Use of New Media award by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for creating, developing and producing Blue & You: Live With The Law, a monthly Facebook Live series.
I invited a different member of law enforcement to join us in the studio for an exclusive Facebook Live episode of “Blue & You: Live With The Law” each month. The idea was simple: give our viewers a chance to ask ANY law enforcement related questions they have - no questions asked - and we would get them the right answers.
